Alex's professional experience demonstrates his dedication and skills in the software engineering and game development industries. He has made great efficiency improvements in the projects he has joined, taken ownership of key features, mentored new hires, and helped pioneer both education methods and biometric research methods through games.

Alex has worked on many government-related game engine projects. Though these projects cannot be shown publicly, they required a great amount of game development skills, technical precision, and attention to detail inside the Unity Engine.

Garmin LABS
Full-time development of projects using Unity Engine for Garmin LABS - Garmin's experimental and innovation sector. Alex is a senior engineer in this role, and was brought on for his game development expertise.

Full-time development of projects using Unity Engine for CGS clients.

Unity Technologies
Full-time development of projects using Unity Engine for Unity clients. As a part of the industry and government subset of the Create internal organization, Alex creates simulations, games, and more.

Alex has worked on a prolific government Digital Twin project for Unity, taking ownership of many key features and workflows in this project. He has also continued his work from Avatar Partners, working as a key contributor on the EDGE HMI simulation project.

Avatar Partners
Avatar Partners is an augmented and virtual reality company with a wide variety of solutions.

Alex worked on and shipped a virtual reality training application that provides trade certification training on the Meta Quest 2 headset. Alex took ownership of several key features, and helped design and develop training modules. For the EDGE HMI simulation project, he implemented AI pathfinding and made great strides optimizing their use of the Addressable Asset System.

Global Game Jam
As a longtime hackathon/game jam veteran and organizer, the leadership of the Global Game Jam organization asked him to join the organization as the permanent Regional Organizer for the entire Midwest United States. As the Midwest RO, Alex manages the jam sites for 18 states every year, often covering over 30 jam sites.
It is Alex's responsibility to vet prospective jam sites across the Midwest, and facilitate the success of organizers’ local events by seeing to their individual needs. He has been the core point of contact for the event in the Midwest since 2020.
Oracle Cerner
At Cerner, a Healthcare Information Technology company now owned by Oracle, Alex worked with the Capacity Management organization, which develops solutions that help move patients and personnel through hospitals. His contributions included greatly improving processing times for hospital operations by up to 1000%, mentoring new hires and teaching them best practices, taking responsibility for approval of quality code, and development on the full stack.

University of Kansas, School of Engineering
After his education, the University of Kansas' School of Engineering hired Alex directly to create an augmented reality application for use in civil engineering classrooms. The application augments 3D visuals and relevant data over the real-world MOLA models they used in the classroom, and was a resounding success. The improvement in student learning stemming from this project were demonstrable, and Alex is being listed as a co-author on an academic publication on these findings (pending publication).

ZOLOZ
As a Game Development Intern, Alex worked for ZOLOZ, a biometrics company owned by an affiliate of Alibaba. He was chosen for this internship as the top game development candidate in the greater Kansas City area.
For ZOLOZ, Alex independently designed and developed a unique interface and a series of seven mini-games, to collect unique biometric data and process it, in order to further research on new experimental technology.
Alex managed his own tasks, sprints, and releases, and completed the project successfully by the end of the internship, after which ZOLOZ planned to patent the application with Alex listed as the inventor.
